The Unsolved Mystery of the “Mary Celeste” The story of the ship the “Mary Celeste” (1861) is one of the greatest mysteries of the sea. This work expresses in a programmatic way the mysterious story about this ship which departed from New York harbor on November 7, 1872, but never arrived at its destination with her crew. When the ship was recovered, it bobbed around battered without a trace of her crew and captain. Where these went is still a big mystery to this day.
