About the Composer
Tjeerd (1956) started his musical career at the age of twenty as a bass tuba soloist with various ensembles and symphony orchestras in the Netherlands. From 1979 to 1989 he played in the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and from 1989 to 1995 in the National Orchestra of Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France. He is a member of the ASKO/SCHONBERG ensemble, the David Kweksilber Big Band, and the ensemble Solisten Residentie Orchestra. From 1985 he focused on building up a repertoire for tuba and also started composing for his instrument. His compositions have been made for various ensemble line-ups and this repertoire now consists 25 works.
